Projects and Documents

Create workspaces for related documents, then organise, review, and reuse their source material.

Create a project

From Projects, select New Project and choose a starting point:

  • Blank Project starts without documents or agents.
  • Template starts with a reusable configuration for a particular workflow.
  • Duplicate Existing copies configuration from another project. You can include agents only, agents and documents, or agents, documents, and results.

Choose how results should be divided before you begin. For most projects, start without a system dimension and add dimensions to individual agents as needed. See Dimensions and row shape.

Use a project reference date when instructions contain relative dates such as “last year” or “the previous quarter”. This gives agents one consistent date from which to interpret them.

Organise projects

The Projects sidebar supports nested folders. Create folders for teams, clients, or recurring processes, then drag projects and folders to move them. Pin frequently used projects so they remain easy to reach.

Project actions include:

  • Edit to change the name, description, reference date, or other settings.
  • Duplicate to reuse a project’s setup.
  • Archive to remove an inactive project from the normal project list.
  • Restore to return an archived project to the active list.
  • Delete permanently to remove the project and its data.

Permanent deletion cannot be undone. Archive a project when you might need it again.

Upload documents

Open Documents, then select Upload Files, upload a folder, or drag files onto the page. You can upload PDFs, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, images, and email (.eml) files. Some additional formats are available to Enterprise customers.

Email messages are parsed with their headers and body. Supported attachments are added to the project as separate documents so agents can work with them directly.

Each document moves through these states:

  • Pending means parsing has not finished.
  • Processed means the document is ready for agents and Navi.
  • Error means parsing failed. Retry the upload or contact support if it continues to fail.

Wait for documents to be processed before launching agents.

Manage documents

From the Documents table you can:

  • Preview or download the original file.
  • Download parsed content as PDF or DOCX.
  • Edit tags used to categorise documents.
  • Copy documents to another project.
  • Select multiple documents for bulk actions.
  • Download all project documents as a ZIP file.
  • Delete a document and its associated extractions.

Tags do more than organise the Documents table. Each tag key can also be attached to an agent as a system-managed dimension. See Tag dimensions.

Deleting a document also removes the extractions produced from it. Affected agents may need to run again to produce current resolved results.

Review a document

Select a document name to open its viewer. You can move between pages, zoom and rotate the original, and compare it with the parsed text. Spreadsheet documents show the relevant cells rather than a page image.

The viewer also provides:

  • Page extractions to see what agents found on the current page.
  • Citation highlights and bounding boxes showing the source location.
  • Document details, including the generated summary and metadata.
  • Copy and download actions for parsed content.
  • Explore with Navi to ask a question with the document already in context.

If a citation highlight is missing or misplaced, open the corresponding result to review the source and retry bounding-box detection. See Working with results.

Add Project Context

Project Context supplies background and instructions shared by every document and agent in a project. Open it from the Documents or Agents page to configure:

  1. General project context.
  2. Text extraction instructions.
  3. Document summary instructions.
  4. Agent context.

You can copy the complete context as JSON and paste it into another project. Keep document-specific facts in the documents themselves; Project Context should contain guidance that applies across the project.
